Israel

Pictures from my trip to Israel in January 2005, staying in Jerusalem to visit Antony at the botanic garden.

Kibbutz Ein Gedi

Kibbutz Ein Gedi, founded in 1953, has a botanical garden with good collection of plants – particularly palms.

Jerusalem Botanic Garden

The Jerusalem Botanical Garden is located in the neighbourhood of Nayot, on the edge of the Givat Ram campus of the University of Jerusalem. The garden is arranged in phytogeographic sections, featuring flora of various regions around the world.

Biblical Park

During my visit the volunteers from Jerusalem Botanical Garden had a trip out to this park, Antony and I tagged along.

Jerusalem Old City

I spent a couple of days walking around the old city of Jerusalem.

Hayarkon Park – Tropical Garden

In the middle of Tel Aviv is Hayarkon Park, 1,000 acres of public open space. Within the park is a beautiful tropical garden.

Hayarkon Park – Rock Garden

Part of the park is an exhibit of rocks – arranged around a path tracking the oldest to the newest rocks from around Israel. Part of this area is also a superb landscape of mass planted cacti.
